One of your biggest challenges as a leader is getting people to do what they need to do in order to reach the organization’s goals and objectives.

Unfortunately, many leaders go about it in ways that are guaranteed to produce suboptimal results. They talk about rewards that are too far into the future; they set up procedures for avoiding bad consequences, not for maximizing performance; or they make the mistake of confusing what they intended to do with what they actually did.
